WIDance offers inclusive classes and workshops in the Greater Wellington region.

 We also offer tailored workshops for community organisations, youth groups and schools.

What: A welcoming and safe inclusive space for all dancers, whether you're a beginner or seasoned performer. 
Explore contemporary dance, improvisation, dance based games and composition, while building body awareness and social connections.
Suitable to all levels of experience. Ages 17+

When: Saturdays 11 am to 1 pm

Where: Te Whaea - National Dance & Drama Centre 11 Hutchison Rd, Newtown, Wellington

Cost per term: Waged $120.00 Unwaged $85.00 Casual $20 
Check out our new option in 2025 for dancers preferring a shorter class based on technique: (first hour only) Per term: $60 Casual: $10

What: A fun inclusive youth dance class exploring the principles of contemporary dance.
Enjoy learning and fostering social connections through improvisation, dance-based games and prop use. Great for developing movement skills, expression and creativity!  Suitable ages 7 -21

When: Saturdays 10.00 am to 11am

Where: Te Whaea - National Dance & Drama Centre 11 Hutchison Rd, Newtown, Wellington

Cost per term: $55.00 or $10.00 casual

January 14 -16 2026
Royal Academy of Dance/WIDance Tīaho Summer School 

What:  The Royal Academy of Dance are partnering once again with WIDance with a return of Tīaho Summer School in 2026!
 Join us from 14–16 January 2026 for three inspiring days of dance.

Each day, Tīaho will run two one-hour workshops exploring movement technique and creative dance. 
The workshops will conclude with a special studio sharing alongside the Grades course, where whānau and friends
are warmly invited to celebrate the students’ creativity and achievements.

When:  Wednesday 14th, Thursday 15th and Friday 16th January 2026

Times:  10am – 12.15pm each day plus sharing on Friday 12.45pm – 2.30pm

Where: Te Whaea - National Dance & Drama Centre 11 Hutchison Rd, Newtown, Wellington

Cost: $60 for the 3 days / $25 per day

Ballet Workshops with the Royal New Zealand Ballet

What: We look forward to the return of our popular ballet workshops series open to all in 2026! Enjoy a fun and accessible ballet class taught by the esteemed Royal New Zealand Ballet dance educators.
We begin with barre work and centre work, followed by learning a snippet of choreography based on shows from the RNZB repertoire.

What:  WIDance runs outreach classes hosted by various disability support organisations in Pōneke. You can often find us at:
The Shed Project in Paraparaumu and Ōtaki on Tuesdays
NZCL in Levin on Wednesdays
Thumbs Up in Petone on Thursdays
