Sound in Motion
CubaDupa March 2026


This March we are thrilled to be returning to partake in the annual magic, delight and fun that is the iconic Pōneke CubaDupa Street Festival.  A CubaDupa collision of three Wellington icons - WIDance, Orchestra Wellington, and Footnote - this work unfolds differently every moment, shaped by spontaneous exchange between musicians and dancers. Expect an exciting, unrepeatable experience where sound drives movement and movement reshapes sound.

When: Two performances on Sunday 29 March
Performance One: 4.15 pm - 4.35 pm Glover Park - between Ghuznee Street and Garrett Street 
Performance Two: 5.20 pm - 5.40 pm Hannahs Courtyard - 19 Leeds Street
Cost: Free

Relaxed End of Year Showing
December 2025


Our Wellington Open Class and Wellington Youth Class invites friends & whānau to our end of year showing. Join us as we highlight creative explorations and choreography we've developed together throughout the year.
 
We’ll finish with a fun shared afternoon tea; a chance to catch up with some of our dancers and celebrate the year.

When: Saturday 13 December 12.30 - 1.00 pm Followed by our shared lunch 1pm - 2 pm
Where:  Te Whaea - National Dance & Drama Centre, 11 Hutchison Rd, Newtown, Wellington 
Cost: Free (Feel free to bring a contribution to our shared kai after the performance.)

Join our Fundraiser
July 2025


WIDance is turning 15! Come along to a shared fundraiser in collaboration with St Andrew's on The Terrace, Pōneke. 
WIDance will be performing as part of a collaborative effort to raise funds for accessibility improvements to the St Andrews building, while also raising funds to support the continued work of WIDance.

When: Saturday 26 July 4.00pm
Where:  St Andrews 30 The Terrace, Wellington
Cost: Entry by donation/koha
Join us for an afternoon birthday tea following the performance. Come celebrate with us!

Murmuration
CubaDupa March 2025


Pōneke streets come alive with a flock of rare, quirky, and iconic New Zealand birds as they weave through the CubaDupa crowds. 
A collaboration between artists from WIDance, Kāpiti Arts Studio and Wellington Circus Hub Youth performers.

When: Saturday 29 March  2.00 pm and 4.15pm (estimated length 40 minutes)
Where:  Follow along as Murmuration roams through the festival parades. Our journey begins outside Te Auaha on Dixon St, then traverses through Hannahs Courtyard and Ghuznee St, winding all the way up to a grand finale on Abel Smith and Cuba St.

Cost: Free

An interpretive/improvised response to the Taku Hoe Exhibition as part of the celebration of International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

When: Sunday 1 December 2024  12.30 - 1.00pm
Where: Pātaka Art Museum

Relaxed Showing Celebrating Matariki

A relaxed end of term showing to celebrate Matariki sharing our dance mahi using the Touch Compass Matariki resource.
Come along and enjoy our work in progress after a busy term.

When: Saturday 24 June 12.30 - 1.00pm
Where: Drama 2 Te Whaea, 11 Hutchison Rd, Newtown
Cost: Koha always welcome but not required.

An expo for people with disabilities exploring life outside of school. With over 50 organisations supporting the event, we are excited to be a part of the action!

The Art of Observation

Artwork comes to life.

A site- specific event, inspired by the architecture of the Academy of Fine Arts, and selected artworks in the 28th Annual Wallace Art Awards NZAFA Exhibition.

"I am...right here."

A human sculpture court that  challenges our collective understanding of seeing and being seen.  WIDance joins a worldwide initiative on International Day of Persons with a Disability created by Heidi Latsky Dance.
